New Section - Lawn D Garden

28 Apr 2020

After many requests from the public wishing to prepay for allocated plots within our lawn sections the trust has recently developed a new section allowing for this to happen. Known as Lawn D Garden, it is on the West side of Lawn D, between Lawn D and the Salvation Army Section. The plots are twice the size of the current plots on the concrete beams, allowing plenty of room between gravesites. Instead of concrete beams there is a wide native garden bed where the headstones are to be placed. This new section will also allow families to prebook lawn gravesites side-by-side as was the case in our old monumental sections.

The plot allocation will be as indicated in the map below.

This new concept will have a softer feel to the concrete beams and give families and loved ones another option for interments. We envisage that this new section will take on a similar look and feel as the gardens at Fawkner Cemetery, pictured below.

Headstones can be placed prior to interments for those also wishing to also prepay for their memorialisation. We will also be able to accommodate a wider range of requests for memorialisation. The maximum dimensions for memorials into the garden will be 120cm in height, 120cm wide, and depth 50cm. This will allow those wanting a more natural feel to place rocks as their memorialisation.  It will also meet the requirements of The Office of War Graves for our returned service personnel and enable the placement of bronze plaques.

Please do no hesitate to contact us if you are interested in pre-booking a plot within our new Lawn D garden.
